The Magic Pill

Do you want access to the magic pill? I have the secret to the perfect diet and the best exercise. Are you ready for the ultimate “fix-ALL?”

CONSISTENCY

(insert sad saxophone music “womp, womp, womp”)

I hate to bust your bubble, but the only thing that works is showing up and sticking to it.

We are constantly fed fixes - my social media pages are always trying to sell me the latest & greatest devices or supplements that guarantee to give results. We live in an immediate world – I was annoyed that my Amazon order the other day was going to take 2 weeks instead of 2 days… (I rolled my eyes at myself for that one! What a little brat!)

I know we’ve all heard this but… “anything worthwhile takes time.” Yes, there will always be outliers and those annoying people that become overnight successes, but for the rest of us, results and success will take time.

I do NOT understand why we forget or ignore this when we are working on ourselves. We know building a business takes time. We understand that getting a degree takes time. We can grasp the concept that relationships, buildings, earnings… literally everything else will take time. But for some reason, we REFUSE to believe that transforming our bodies, finding a new nutrition program, developing a new skill, relieving pain, or recovering from an injury will take time!

I am constantly asked by clients, friends, and strangers what I think about [blank]- insert any exercise, new style of training, or nutrition program. We are on the neverending hunt for the next best thing that’s actually going to work this time. But usually the answer that no one wants to hear is to stick with something long enough for it to have time to work. A workout program is going to take more than 2 sessions to give you results. The same with nutrition and rehabilitation exercises. Fixing 30 years of poor mobility and bad posture is going to take months and maybe even years of relearning and better positioning practices - it’s not going to happen in a few weeks.

Some days will suck. Some days will be amazing. Some days you’ll have aches and pains. Some days you’ll feel like a million bucks… that’s Life and training is no different. We want to put it in a different, quick fix, box but we can’t. That box doesn’t exist.

So now that I’ve crushed your hopes and dreams of a magic world where everything is easy; let me end by giving you some light at the end of this tunnel.

If you consistently train with purpose,

If you consistently eat clean, fresh foods,

If you consistently work on your skills,

If you consistently strive to be better… IT WILL WORK.

Be patient with yourself. Find movement that you want to do, fuel your body with foods you like to eat, and practice those skills you aim to develop. Consistent and intentional practice WILL elicit results over time.

“Consistent and intentional practice will elicit results over time.”
